Poczta Polska plans to buy modern letters sorting systems by 2028 – the postal operator said on Tuesday. In his opinion, this will reduce costs by approx. PLN 100 million per year and improve and facilitate the work of postmen.

The purchase of letter sorters is part of the Poczta Polska transformation plan implemented by the current management. “Thanks to this, postmen will not have to sort thousands of letters manually.
The project is to include the creation of an IT environment and the installation of at least 18 letter sorters in six main operational centers: Warsaw, Zabrze, Komorniki, Lisim Tail, Wrocław and Pruszcz Gdański. The machines are to support standard lists and shipments up to 2 kg. The system is to be complemented by the lines of optical recognition of characters (OCR), which will allow for registration of data on parcels.
“Although the number of letters in circulation is systematically falling, their quick and effective delivery remains crucial for the functioning of many entities. Automation will strengthen the service of, among others, court and official correspondence and public hybrid service (PUH is electronic granting in the e -mail system and printout by Polish post and delivery in a traditional form),” said the state operator.
Poczta Polska is a state -owned company, the largest postal operator on the domestic market. Its network includes 7.6 thousand branches, branches and postal agencies in the country. This year, there were several employee disputes in this year, which are connected with the transformation plan implemented by the post office, which, according to the president Sebastian Mikosz, transform the operator “into a modern courier-dietary-financial and digital company”. The transformation plan includes eight areas: sales, logistics, human resources, IT, organization and management, real estate, finance and capital group. About PLN 500 million was allocated to it. Its part was also a reduction in employment. Currently, the company employs approx. 51 thousand people.
In May, the post office informed PAP that in 2024 she recorded PLN 213 million net loss. The loss was less by PLN 408 million against that of 2023 (PAP)
