Gerard Depardieu was sentenced to 18 months of probation in a sexual assault case. The decision was made by a Paris court.
During the hearings, the prosecutor's office demanded a more serious punishment – 18 months in prison + a fine of 20k euros. She also asked the court to order the actor to pay compensation to the victims, undergo psychological treatment and be placed on the sex offenders register for two years.
Gerard was detained in April 2024 after statements from two women (a set designer and an assistant director). According to them, he harassed them on the set of two films in 2014 and 2021. Depardieu himself denies guilt.
