A city in Romania offers support to the seniors alone. How does the Clock with Emergency button work

The authorities have launched a unique program that supports the elderly, of people with disabilities and those with chronic diseases. The beneficiaries receive an intelligent clock with an emergency button, permanently connected to a dispatcher available 24 hours a day.

Over 100 elderly from Sfântu Gheorghe have already received the intelligent Assisto watches, which allow them to ask for immediate help, by a single push of a button. The device is connected to a call center, where operators can call the person's family or emergency services, if necessary.
“Don't stop it! He has to go, tell you three times that …”, Explains a volunteer how the clock operation.
The device is water resistant, has GPS and a fall sensor, and for it, the beneficiaries pay 30 lei monthly.
“I had no one to call the night”
Among those who received the clock are Mrs. Eva, 84 years old, a widow over half a century. Her daughters live in Cluj and Hungary, so the woman lives alone in Sfântu Gheorghe.
“I also have a grade 2 grade, I have mitral failure. Only with medicines can I cope, I have the increased tension”Says Eva Fadgyas, according to Digi24.
Since the Assisto clock, the woman says she feels safer: “I was so very sick at night and I had no one to call, that the neighbors are all young, each with family ”.
Another beneficiary confesses that the device played the quiet: “After my husband's death, I was left alone in the house. I have problems with tension – sometimes I get up, sometimes, I have endocrinological problems. “
A social project with soul
The initiative belongs to the Christian Foundation Diakónia, in collaboration with Sfântu Gheorghe City Hall. “I created a call center, a dispatcher with a 24 -hour program 24. Being a foundation working with people with disabilities and disadvantaged people, I have longed for these Call Center employees to be people with disabilities or disabled”Explains Makkai Péter, director of the local branch of the Foundation.
The project is inspired by a model implemented in Hungary, where it is funded by the Government. “Already operating in Hungary. There, the Government is the one who finances this project. We have tried to take over the model and adapt it for Sfântu Gheorghe. 70% of the costs are financed by the town hall and 30% by the beneficiaries.”said Mayor Antal Árpád.
100 beneficiaries, the elder is 103
The Directorate of Social Assistance in Sfântu Gheorghe says that the program comes in response to the growing needs of the community seniors. “There are elderly people who need home care, they are old people who need a hot meal or the activities of a club for socializing”Says Szép-Márk Linda, director of the institution.
Currently, 100 elderly people benefit from the Assisto clock, the oldest of them 103.
