The central electoral commission (CEC) in the Republic of Moldova declared the results of the parliamentary elections on September 28 on Sunday. The CEC report will be transmitted to the Constitutional Court, which will validate the elections within 10 days, writes the Moldovan press, quoted by News.ro.

1,609,579 voters (52.24%) participated in the parliamentary elections on September 28. The total number of validly expressed votes was 1,578,722, according to the CEC.

The 101 places in Parliament will be distributed as follows:

  • Step – 55 places
  • Patriotic block – 26 places
  • Alternative block – 8 seats
  • Our party – 6 places
  • The Democracy Party at home – 6 places

The formations obtained the following number of votes: step – 792,557 votes, the “patriotic” electoral block – 381.984, the “alternative” electoral block – 125,706, “Our party” – 97,852 votes, the “Democracy Home” Party – 88.679.

The Constitutional Court has ten days to validate or cancel the poll and mandates of the elected deputies, according to the legislation. The decision is published in the Official Gazette within two days.

The new Parliament must be convened by the head of state within 30 days from the elections, in the establishment meeting. Then, the Constitutional Court presents the report, and the legislature becomes legally constituted. The deputies choose the leadership – the president of the Parliament, the Vice -Presidents, the Permanent Bureau – and form the parliamentary fractions within ten days of the establishment.

The process continues with the appointment of a candidate for the position of prime minister. It has 15 days to present in the plenary the list of ministers and the activity program. If you get the majority of deputies, the government is invested. In no more than 14 days after the vote, the president of the country signs the decree, and the ministers take the oath.

Thus, in less than two months from the poll, the Republic of Moldova could have a new functional Parliament and a investigated government.
