A nationwide list of speed cameras begins in Italy. The authorities of all municipalities have two months to register devices at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. This is a condition for their legal use. All fines issued by unregistered speed cameras will be invalid.

There are about 11,000 speed cameras in Italy. This is a record number in Europe – emphasize Italian media.
Recently there was chaos when it came to light that Some of these so -called AutoVelox has no approval. At that time, some of the seats issued on their basis were canceled. Drivers appealed after when the Supreme Court ruled that these penalties were invalid.
Currently, under the regulation issued on Tuesday, local authorities must notify the ministry by the end of November, what speed cameras have installed on the roads and where. Registration on a special portal is a condition for their legal use – the transport department pointed out.
Satisfaction with this decision was expressed by the Organization for the Defense of Codacons's Consumer Rights, which emphasized that the exact number of speed cameras installed in the country and their location will be known. The issue of their approval remains a problem, as the association added. According to this organization, there are about 60 percent of them.
