“To announce that it is a fool of April 1”

After the Americans reacted harshly When they saw what the new Duster Pick-up utility model looks like, considering that the key element is missing, the British turn came to analyze the car launched in September in Romania and ironize the manufacturer, still hoping that the model is only, what they call, a joke from April 1.

The Americans analyzed the launch of the new model and charged the producers, considering that the distinctive element, the pick-up part, is missing. The British have the same opinion and fix the same aspect fixed, tying themselves on the pick-up side.

Dacia Duster Pick-up can be ordered in Romania at a starting price of 25,983 euros, excluding VAT, and the new model is an adapted version for mixed use, for both people and for freight, derived from Duster, made in collaboration with Romtouringia and with a charging capacity of up to 430 kg.

An editorialist of a UK car site analyzed the Duster Pick-up, criticizing the new Dacia car.

“Dacia has always seemed to me a fantastic brand, since the presentation of the first Logan. When that sedan appeared on the market at a much lower price than any of its direct competitors, the exceptional value for help to become one of the best-selling brands in Europe. Renault also saved Renault on emerging markets. That being said, I confess that I am still waiting for the brand to shout “April 1!” In connection with the new Duster pick-up.

I know it is manufactured by a Romanian who called Romtouringia, but this is not an excuse. Romtingia is free to do what she wants with any car. As a carrier, it must be creative. The Romanian company has also made other Duster pick-up models in the past. One based on the second generation Duster still has photos on the company's website.

Not only does it look much better than the one Dacia has decided to turn into an official SUV version, but that older pick-up makes much more sense, with its bigger ben, even if it is a single cab. According to articles written at the time of its presentation, the bent of this previous pick-up had a length of 1.65 meters. It also had a volume of 1,000 liters and a useful load of 500 kilograms.

Returning to the most recent creation of the company, it is impossible to understand how they could consider that an original tailgate can be called in any way a pick-up. Worse, how Dacia could approve this, publishing such a vehicle on its official website, is something I still try to understand.

Bena is only 1.05 m long and 1 m wide, which will not allow the transport of many things. Dacia did not reveal the volume that this “pick-up” can carry, because it would be ridiculous. Assuming that Bena would have a height of 50 cm (an image shows a dewalt tool box of approximately this size), Dacia Pick-up could carry 500 liters of freight. A large suitcase has a volume of about 100 liters. If you think it's enough for a pick-up to carry five suitcases, you already know what to buy.

That farce on April 1 managed to fool many people, which is why I thought the Duster Pick is in the same category. Maybe in Romania there was a holiday I didn't know, but I didn't dare ask my Romanian friends about it.

Given that the information was, in fact, serious, my only option is to consider this event a presentation. It may not have been the original intention but that will become this vehicle: a meme to make people talk about Dacia.

The Romanian car manufacturer and Romtingia could have easily avoided this if the transformation had been based on Bigster. Bena would have been considerably larger than the one presented by the Duster Pick-up, which could have become a single cabin if the idea was really to provide an option with a useful loading space. A single cabin based on Bigster would have been even better, even if the suspension certainly required a modernization. A larger strip would mean that people would load heavier objects.

If the Romanian car manufacturer was so eager to sell a pick-up, he could have expected the debut of the series version of the Renault Niagara. When this happened, it would have been Dacia's turn to rebraw a Renault model, as the French company with Logan, Sandero, Duster, Dokker and Lodgy did. Ironically, the Niagara images show that they would not look too different from a Bigster. Curious, isn't it? ”, It is shown in the editorial published on the British site Autoevolution.com.

Americans believe that the key item is missing is missing

“Dacia made a pick-up in the Duster and forgot the pick-up part,” the Americans titled a week ago, shortly after the new model.

Pick-up vehicles have long been the favorite choice of those who need space for goods, but do not want to give up the back seat. In most cases, this means a band large enough to transport bulky objects. The new Dacia Duster pick-up, however, seems to have ignored this rule.

This new creation is the result of a partnership with Romtingia, a Romanian company famous for the pick-up conversions of previous Duster generations. The previous projects used a configuration with a simple cab and a suitable strip, but this time the formula changes. The new Duster Pick-up retains a double-duplicate configuration, which leaves the load area quite small
