Nearly every fifth adult Pole in the last two years has reached for a loan or cash loan – according to the SW Research study, realized for Bank Pocztowy. Most often they were Residents of medium -sized cities, people aged 35–49earning above the domestic median, but legitimators secondary vocational education.

They also decided slightly more often for additional financing households with at least four people. The vast majority (69 percent) the decision to make a commitment was thought out and planned, and as much as 70 percent. respondents emphasize that she was also necessary in their life situation.
Unforeseen expenses
The study carried out for Bank Pocztowy entitled “Polish Borrower” shows that Poles most often use loans and cash loans due to unforeseen expenses, such as: the need to buy new electronic equipment after a failure (19 percent)sudden renovation of the apartment (15 percent), deterioration of the financial situation (13 percent) or health problems (11 percent). The planned goals are dominated by the repayment of current liabilities (16 percent), purchase of a better car (12 percent) and real estate investments (10 %).

– The results of the study confirm that Poles' motivations to incur financial obligations are very diverse and result from individual needs. What is natural often associated with sudden expenses, but also include more strategic activities, such as, for example, developing your own business. Importantly, when choosing a loan or cash loan offer, customers are primarily guided by financial factors – an attractive interest rate or a convenient repayment period. It is worth paying attention to the clearly greater caution of people over 50, who, when deciding to take advantage of a specific solution, focus on its transparency and predictability of costs – comments Radosław Kazimierski, director of the Marketing Department of Bank Pocztowy.
As low as possible priority
When choosing a loan or cash loan, Poles are primarily guided by financial criteria. Attractive interest rate (65 percent) and a convenient repayment period (57 percent) are factors that are most important – especially in the group of clients over 50. Much Less frequently, respondents paid attention to the convenience of concluding a contract via the Internet (35 percent)and the least important were the opinions of other clients (12 percent) or an extensive network of branches (15 percent).
Importantly, As many as two -thirds of the respondents (65 percent) declare their readiness to re -use from this type of financial products. Most often they are young people – up to 24 years old, well -earning (over PLN 7,000 net), living in medium -sized cities (PLN 100-500,000) and in larger households with over three people.
The study was carried out by the SW Research agency using CAWI technique on a representative sample of adult Poles. The output sample had n = 2022 respondents, of which questions about loans were answered by n = 378 people who in the last 2 years declared a loan or cash loan.
