President Nicușor Dan said on Tuesday that the draft law on the preparation of the defense population will be sent by the Government to the Parliament “in very short”, and the Minister of Defense, Ionuț Moșteanu, “will make a press conference with all the details”.
Asked about this project, on Tuesday, in a press conference in Timișoara, the head of state said that the initiative “refers to the entire spectrum of population training”.
“The most important modification of this law is the introduction of a voluntary military internship, I emphasize, voluntarily, paid by the Romanian state, that is, the Romanian state will also pay the officers who will do the training, and will pay the young people who want to make this voluntary military internship for four months, so that Romania has to have some forces for a reserve, but we have to prepare for a reserve We discourage, “said Nicușor Dan.
He did not exclude the possibility that some of the people who go through the volunteer military service would later want to hire themselves at the Ministry of Defense.
“As a side effect, it is possible that after these four months, under military conditions, some of these people want to commit to the Ministry of Defense,” concluded President Nicușor Dan.
