Denmark will be banned this week with drones civil flights throughout the country to ensure the safety of the Wednesday EU summit in Copenhagen – the Danish Ministry of Transport said on Sunday.


The ban will apply from Monday to Friday. “In connection with recent drone incidents, transport minister Thomas Danielsen, in consultation with the defense minister and the Minister of Justice, decided to use the option provided for in the Aviation Act to close the Danish airspace for all civilians of the drones this week,” it was written in a statement of transport.
“We cannot allow foreign drones to cause uncertainty and disorganization in society, which we have experienced recently. Denmark will host EU leaders next week. Therefore, we must focus on safety,” explained Minister Danielsen, quoted on the website of his ministry.
Violation of the ban may result in a fine or imprisonment of up to two years. The ban does not include flights of military drones, state aviation using drones, including police drones and crisis situations, as well as drone operations in crisis situations in urban and regional areas and in healthcare.
In recent days in Denmark there have been several cases of airspace violations by unidentified drones. The armed forces of Denmark announced on Sunday about the appearance of unmanned aerial artists in a row near military facilities. The head of the Danish government Mette Frederiksen previously called the incidents “hybrid attacks”.

The German FSG Hamburg frigate was received on Sunday to Copenhagen to strengthen Denmark's supervision over the airspace of the Danish armed forces. Sweden and Ukraine also offered help in combating drones.

Earlier, drones appearing in the Danish and Norwegian sky led to the temporary closure of several airports. Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen and the head of government Mette Frederiksen defined the incidents with a hybrid attack.
The Danish police confirmed earlier that on Friday evening “one or two drones” were observed near and above the military base Karup, the largest in the country where all helicopters of the armed forces, the airspace supervision system, the Air School and support departments are stationed.
