Vance: Russia must wake up and see that its offensive got stuck

The US vice president JD Vance confirmed on Sunday that the United States is considering selling Tomahawk shells Ukraine. In an interview with Fox News, he also stated that Russia must “wake up” and see that its offensive got stuck. The vice president also spoke about a possible peace agreement in Gaza.

Vance confirmed the earlier reports of the press and the words of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelanski, who said that he asked Trump to sell Tomahawków, to which he received the answer “we will work on it.”

– As the president said, we look at it. We are certainly looking at a number of applications from Europeans – Vance said in a Sunday interview with Fox News. He noted that the final decision in the case will be made by the president himself, guided by the interest of the United States.

– I will let the president talk about it, but I know that we are talking about it literally in this minute – added the vice president.

When asked about the return in Trump's rhetoric and his statement that Ukraine can regain his lands occupied by Russia, Vance said that this is due to changing realities on the battlefield.

– One of the things I really admire in the president's approach to the whole conflict, and to be honest, all the diplomatic efforts of the administration, is that it is very firmly set in reality – said the politician. – And what is happening now, as the president said, is the fact that Russia is in an impasse. They kill a lot of people. They lose a lot of people themselves and do not have many territorial benefits. So the president looks at the situation. He says: Look, the Russian economy is in ruins. The Russians gain little on the battlefield. Apparently the time has come for them to listen to his ardent request, let them settle at the table and seriously talk about the room – he added.

Vance noted that the Russians “must wake up and accept reality” that their attacks have no effect.

During the interview with Fox News Vance, he also referred to Trump's announcement regarding the soon to conclude a peace agreement in the Gaza Strip. The vice president expressed optimism, although he said that it was still possible to derail conversations on the last straight. Vance said that the US goal is to release Hamas hostages, eliminate Hamas as a threat to Israel and to allow humanitarian aid to Palestinians. He also stated that the president wants the Gaza and the West Bank of Jordan to be managed by Palestinians.

Trump himself, who suggested that the agreement was reached on Friday, on Sunday he additionally fueled hope for a breakthrough.

“We have a real chance of greatness in the Middle East. Everyone agrees to do something special for the first time in history. We will do it !!!” – the president wrote on his Truth Social social networking site. On Monday, Trump will meet with the Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu.
