The Minister of Labor, Petre Florin Manole, does not support the increase of the retirement age over 65. “I don't think people have to work until the last moment. I think we need time for personal life, grandchildren, for rest,” he said, according to News.ro. On the other hand, the minister believes that people who want to work and after the age of 65 must have this legal option.
Minister of Labor: The money from any pension pillar is not savings deposit. Great, so to speak!
Florin Manole was asked, during a show on Prima TV, if he can see after the age of 65.
“I hope to activate only in the NGO sector as a volunteer. I am not a fan of increased retirement age. I do not think people have to work until the last moment,” the Minister of Labor believes.
In his opinion, “we need time for personal life, for grandchildren, for rest.”
“I think the retirement age does not have to grow. Of course there are people who want to work after 65, and after 67. There are people who at the age of 70 want to work. I have no problem with them, neither legal nor personal. And there is the possibility that today you work until you want. But it is an option. Really for at least one break, if not an end of active life and work.
Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan recently said that this is not the time to increase the standard retirement age in Romania, but it is necessary to eliminate exceptions from all areas, given that only half of Romanians between 55 and 64 are working.
“We need to have more people in the real economy. One of the issues is that the revenues collected to the state budget are collected only from the people who work in Romania. The more people who work and will earn better, with so much, without raising taxes, we will have a higher tax base and we can provide health services in Europe. 55 and 64 years, only 53% of Romanians work.
