He took part in a meeting on the creation of the “wall of the drones” on the eastern border of the European Union. In addition to Shmygal, the European Commissioner for Defense, Andryus Cubilyus, the head of the EU diplomacy, Kai Kallas, as well as the Minister of Defense of Denmark, Finland, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Bulgaria and NATO representatives participated.
“We are already striving now and can play an active role in protecting Europe from the Russian drone threat,” the Minister of Defense of Ukraine assured.
According to Shmygal, the “wall of the drones” will create “a fundamentally new defense ecosystem in Europe,” and Ukraine is ready to become part of it.
“Together with the allies, we will coordinate our opposition to Russian provocations in the sky and introduce the most effective solutions. We are counting on the signing of the declaration with our partners in October. For their part, we are already ready to send technical teams to prepare groups that will become part of the“ walls of the drones, ”the head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine wrote.
Shmygal added that Ukraine as a recognized leader in unmanned technologies is ready to share its experience to knock down Russian drones with the EU, NATO and neighboring countries.
The meeting also discussed participation in the project of Ukrainian manufacturers.
“The aggressor has already made deliberate provocations against Denmark, Poland, the Baltic countries. The EU should be ready to decisively answer such an escalation. And the role of Ukraine here is a key one,” Shmygal summed up.
Context
The EU convened a meeting on the so -called “Drone Wall” (Drone Wall) after the incidents of Russian drones, which violated the air space of countries – members of the European Union. Western analysts believe that the Russian Federation will continue to “probe” the defense of NATO.
Against the backdrop of a Russian attack on Poland, the creation of the so-called “wall of drones” on its eastern border with the aggressor of the Russian Federation is considering Finland, the media wrote.
In the interview published on September 15, Cubilyus said that the European Union wants to actively involve Ukraine in the creation of the “wall of the drones” on the eastern borders of the EU.
The EC was reported on September 22 that Hungary and Slovakia were not invited to meet the EU on the “walls of drones”. But on September 26, the press service of the European Commission informed in the commentary Radio Freedom that on September 26, the ministers of the defense of Hungary and Slovakia took part in the meeting on September 26 (Shmygal did not indicate this).
