During the Friday session in the Chamber, the law was supported by liberal and levic groups, including the Socialist Party (PS), which ruled in the country in 2015-2024.
The adoption of the Act was possible by abstaining from the voice of the center -right Democratic Alliance (AD) led by Prime Minister Luis Montenegro, as well as the Conservative Party of Cheg, the largest group of parliamentary opposition.

Pursuant to the Parliament approved by the Act, the Portuguese government authorized to cooperate with international organizations in order to accept “children from the Gaza Zone in this country in need of urgent medical support”.
The new regulations also recommend Portugal authorities to accept at least one guardian of a sick child from the Gaza Strip in this country.
