Parking with rear parking. Applicable regulations 2025

The ban on parking back to the building aims to protect the inhabitants of blocks against exhaust gases. His legal effectiveness, however, raises doubts. Do drivers really have to be afraid of fines? It turns out that in some cases yes.
Babbit -rear parking plates do not have legal force. Polish law does not provide for penalties for parking only on the basis of such plates. In practice, this means that drivers who will break the ban can meet at most with the dissatisfaction of their neighbors.
A ticket for parking back to the building. When is it possible?
Although the estate plates themselves are not binding, there is a recipe that may result in a ticket for parking. Pursuant to Article 47 para. 1 of the Road Traffic Law, parking on the pavement is only allowed in a certain way – the vehicle must be set with wheels of one side or the front axle. This means that parking on the sidewalk on the pavement is incompatible with the regulations.
What's more, the law requires to leave at least 1.5 m free pedestrian space on the pavement. Violation of these rules may result in a fine of PLN 100 and 1 penalty point.
Parking on the pavement. Beware of fines
Therefore, if there is a pavement under the block and the driver parks on the pavement in a way that is inconsistent with the regulations, the mandate is possible.
The situation is different in the case of designated parking spaces. If there are such places in front of the building, the driver has the freedom to choose whether to park in front or back. In this case, the residents' requests for parking in a certain way are not binding, although it is worth considering them in the spirit of good neighborly cooperation.
