Two teenagers detained in the Netherlands. They were to spy on Russia


Two 17-year-old students were arrested on September 22 in the Netherlands-the newspaper said, citing sources in law enforcement agencies.
According to the media, teenagers had, among others Defeat the route leading through Haga near the headquarters of Europol, Eurojust (EU Agency for Cooperation of Justice in criminal matters) and the Canada Embassy, using the so -called WiFi-Sniffera, i.e. devices or applications for detecting and monitoring traffic on wireless Internet networks.
The investigation was initiated after the information provided by the Dutch intelligence and security service (AIDV). One of the boys was temporarily arrested for two weeks, and the other was placed in a home detention with an electronic bracelet.
According to the father of one of the detainees, quoted by “de Telegraaf”, his son came in contact with a person associated with Russian hackers by the Telegram application. Teenagers – according to investigators – could be used as “one -time agents”, recruited to simple but risky tasks.
The Dutch authorities emphasize that the case is unprecedented because it concerns underage citizens. In May, an amendment to the law entered into force tightening the provisions regarding actions for a foreign state. Under the new regulations, such actions are punishable by up to eight years in prison.
