“The most destructive race of arming in the history of mankind.” Zelenski asks countries to stop Russia to expand war in Europe

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski has appealed to world leaders to intervene to prevent Russia from leading the world through “the most destructive race of armaments in the history of mankind”, warning that the combination of drone technology and artificial intelligence could prove catastrophic, The Guardian reports.

In the speech held on the occasion of the UN General Assembly in New York, the Ukrainian president tried to mobilize not only the West, but also China. Its observation about how Russia uses technology to change the face of the war located on the opposite pole compared to Donald Trump's statement that Russia's army could only be a paper tiger.
He warned that Vladimir Putin, if not stopped, will use drones to expand his war throughout Europe. “The facts are simple. Stopping this war now, and, with it, the race of global armaments, is cheaper than the construction of underground kindergartens or massive bunkers for critical infrastructure later,” he said. “Stop the little now is cheaper than trying to protect each port and every ship of terrorists. Stopping Russia is now cheaper than to ask who will be forced to create a simple drone with a nuclear fossa.”
Ten years ago, he said, “the war looked different and no one could have imagined that cheap drones could create areas of death that would stretch for tens of kilometers, where nothing moves, no vehicles, no life.
Referring to the recent wave of Russian disturbances in Europe, including a forage with drones in Poland, he said: “Putin was determined to carry on war, in a wider and deeper way … To continue this war by expanding it.”
He said he had warned Europe and before about Russia's intentions, “and now Russian drones fly through Europe.” No one can be immune to the expansion of war, he said. “We live the most destructive race of armaments in the history of mankind.”
“With every year with which this war continues, the weapons become even more deadly, and only Russia is to blame for this,” he said.
International law no longer defends war
He also said that in the modern world “only friends and weapons” protect the countries, and not international law or UN resolutions.
“If a nation wants peace, it has to work on weapons. It is terrible, but this is reality. Not international law, not cooperation. Weapons are the ones who decide who survives,” Zelenski pointed out, specifying that “there are no security guarantees” and it all depends on the alliances and weapons he manages to obtain.
On the other hand, each country is facing a choice between peace and giving a helping hand to Russia by continuing trade with Moscow. Those who continued to finance the war underwent prisoners of war, kidnapped and hostage children to longer captivity, stressed the Ukrainian leader.
Kremlin's position
Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov attributed comments that Trump had just met Zelenski in the margin of the UN General Assembly in New York. “Of course, President Trump has heard Zelenski's version of events. And it seems that, at this moment, this version is the reason for the evaluation I have heard.”
Peskov claims that the Russian army is making progress in Ukraine, even if progressively. Putin “repeatedly said this – we advance very carefully to minimize losses … These are deliberate actions,” he said.
Dmitri Medvedev, former Russia president, currently known for his aggressive rhetoric, wrote on Telegram that Zelenski attracted Trump in an “alternative reality” in which Ukraine could win the war. Medvedev, however, added that he is confident that Trump will change the course soon.
“I have no doubt, it will succeed. It always does it … it will most likely tell her soon [lui Zelenski] To sign the capitulation, ”wrote Medvedev.
Russian military bloggers took advantage of Trump's remarks, presenting them as a sign that he was trying to move away from the war and distance themselves from a conflict that he once promised to end in a few days.
“The US tries to wash their hands so that it does not lose its reputation if Ukraine collapses,” wrote DVA Mayora, a telegram channel with connections with the Ministry of Defense.
Trump says Ukraine could recover her territory
Tuesday, Trump offered an optimistic evaluation of Ukraine's prospects in the war, claiming that Russia is in great economic difficulty. It is one of the strongest support statements that Kiev has offered in recent months, writes The Guardian.
“Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and recover all Ukraine in its original form,” Trump wrote.
“I had a good meeting with President Trump and we also talked to many other influential leaders. Together, we can change a lot,” Zelenski said in the UN stand. “Of course, we do our best to ensure that Europe offers (Ukraine) a real help and, obviously, count on the US,” he added, Reuters said.
The message transmitted by Trump on Tuesday is encouraging Ukraine, but without committing US support, indirectly transmitting the message that they must contribute more money to economic and military aid for Ukraine, in particular by buying American weapons, several commentators quoted by Reuters, according to Agerpres.
