Ionuț Dumitru, honorary counselor of Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, said that he believes that the prime minister “will leave” if he has no political support for the proposed reforms.
“” What can I tell you as I met him so far, if he has no support, he will leave (…). He has not told me that, but at least I understand from the statements he makes. When you can do some things, continue, and to do it, but to do it, You can't do things, you better leave someone else, ”Ionuț Dumitru told Digi24, in a show broadcast on Saturday.
Asked if he feels that the prime minister is put “brakes” in an attempt to implement reform measures, Ionuț Dumitru replied: “I do not know these things, I am not involved in the political discussions very much, but we all see that there is a very high resistance, and from the administration in general, but there are reforms.”
The economist offered the example of the situation in the administration, “which is designed on an administrative-territorial structure from Gheorghiu Dej”.
“Romania, today, has 3,000 and about 200, if I do not deceive, UATs. Poland has about 2,500 and Poland has an almost double population like ours. Is it accidental that Poland has absorbed much better the European money, that it has a much better economic and regional development?”, Ionuț Dumitru continued.
“A first step of transparency”
Ionuț Dumitru said that “the first step” in the administrative reform is “this discount of personnel in the public administration, at least a standardization that we have been discussing for years, how many employees should have public institutions in the general way.”
“And I think it is a first transparency step, at least, I have not seen it before, to see, say, at all the UATs how many employees have on various functions and what are the differences between various counties, between the mayors. I think it is useful for everyone to see these things,” said Ionuț Dumitru.
