Sebastian Ioan Hotca, “will no longer exercise the position of president of the ANPC,” said the government spokesman, Ioana Dogioiu, for Hotnews. Shortly before, DNA had announced, in a statement, that the head of ANPC and another director of the institution were placed under judicial control, in a corruption file.

A new person at the management of ANPC will be called “at the latest”, the government spokesman said.

Sebastian Ioan Hotca is the president of the ANPC of July 23, 2025, when the former chief, Cristian Popescu Piedone, was dismissed by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, after being placed under judicial control in an open file.

Sebastian Ioan Hotca was placed under judicial control on Friday in the file in which the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Economy, Flavius ​​Nedelcea, is investigated. Along with him, under judicial control is a director of ANPC, Paul Anghel.

Party Mrs. Sebastian Ioan Hotca is accused of “committing the crime of abuse in the service”, and the other director of ANPC, Paul Anghel, of “committing the blackmail offense”.

Specifically, in this file, Nedelcea is accused of anti -corruption prosecutors of having exerted pressure on the president of ANPC (Sebastian Hotca) and the director of ANPC (Paul Anghel) in order to change the head of Caraş Severin Consumer Protection.

“Between October 2024 – January 2025, the defendant Hotca Sebastian Ioan on the date of the facts and currently vice -president of the ANPC with the duties of president, at the instigation of the defendant Nedelcea Constantin Flavius, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Economy, in the exercise of the duties of the service, would have the temporary movement of the person. The protection of consumers Caraș-Severin, in another management position within the ANPC ”, writes in the DNA statement.

While under judicial control, Sebastian Ioan Hotca and Paul Anghel-Silviu must comply with a number of obligations, including:

• to present themselves whenever they are called to the criminal prosecution body,
• not to communicate directly or indirectly, in any way, with the injured person mentioned in the ordinances for the disposition of judicial control;
• not to carry out the activity/duties corresponding to the position of president of the ANPC, respectively general director within the ANPC, in the exercise of which the crimes would have committed.
