“I decided to diversify the filling a little and prepared cabbage rolls with rice and meat with the addition of crushed walnuts. They make the texture more interesting with their pleasant crunch, and also add aroma and saturation to taste. Ingredients:
- 150 g of round -grained rice;
- one average cabbage (1300 g);
- 500 g of pork minced meat;
- one middle onion;
- one average carrot;
- 100 g of walnuts;
- 2 tbsp. l. sunflower oil;
- three bay leaves;
- two peas of fragrant pepper;
- two peas of black pepper;
- 1 tbsp. l. tomato paste;
- two glasses of warm water;
- sour cream for feeding;
- Salt and pepper taste.
Cooking
- Pour 150 g of round -grained rice into a pan, pour 300 ml of water and boil until half -cooked (about 10 minutes after boiling). If water remains in the pan, just drain it. Pour rice into a bowl.
- Clean the middle onion and cut into small cubes. Heat the pan with 2 tbsp. l. sunflower oil and fry the onion until golden color.
- Grind 100 g of walnuts with a rolling pin, you can also use a blender or a regular knife. Put them in a bowl to the rice along with the onion, add 500 g of pork minced meat. Salt and pepper to taste, mix well.
- From cabbage, cut the stump and tear off the upper leaves. Put it in a large pan, pour it with water, add a pinch of salt and cook over low heat, periodically removing the leaves.
- Cut the lower hard part from each sheet, put the filling, approximately on a tablespoon, and wrap the cabbage rolls.
- Clean the carrots and grate on a large grater. Put the formed cabbage rolls in a pan with a thick bottom in one layer, sprinkle with grated carrots on top. Put another layer of cabbage rolls on it, and the carrots are again on top.
- Mix 1 tbsp. l. tomato paste with two glasses of warm water. Pour the cabbage rolls, add three bay leaves, two peas of fragrant pepper, two peas of black pepper and slightly sunbathe. Cover with a lid and simmer over low heat for 1 hour 30 minutes.
- Serve the finished cabbage rolls with sour cream or any sauce to taste.
