On Sunday, the Russian ambassador, Vladimir Lipaev, was summoned for the second time to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, following the incident in which a Russian drone entered the airspace of Romania and became the area for almost 50 minutes.
Oana Țoiu reported that the discussions were hit by a wall, because of Russia's inflexible attitude: “Moscow has the same approach as when the war in Ukraine began.”
According to the Foreign Minister, Russian diplomacy maintains its classic, broken discourse.
“Let's start with the facts. First of all, there was visual contact from the F-16 pilots, when they monitored that drone. We know it is an Iranian drone, which does not exist in the Ukrainian army, so it is clear that it belongs to Russia.”explained the minister in an intervention at Digi24.
Asked why Russia still denies the incident, Ioana Ţoiu explained: “No one tries to convince Russia that the Iranian drone belongs to them. It's a tactic they have tried.”
Regarding the accusations from the Kremlin's side that NATO is already in war with Russia, the Romanian minister has wanted points that the Alliance is an offensive par excellence and has rejected the statements of Russian officials.
