Poachers with horses and spears caught put hundreds of traps in the woods. The sentence given in a bizarre trial, in Iasi

A case of poaching detached from the “Western” films is judged in Iași, after three men from Oșești commune, Vaslui county, used unique methods to catch wild boars in the forests in the area. Father and son were not satisfied with the prey caught in the chains and they handled the deer slats to the places where the traps were installed, notes Ziarul de Iași.

The poachers were caught after the dogs alerted the hunting guard, who organized a look with his son and another hunter. Around 8 o'clock in the morning, the two approached the wools accompanied by dogs, but did not find any animal caught-instead they gave nose to nose. Initially, they denied any involvement, claiming that the wools do not belong and that they were sent to check if they do not cut wood in the forest.
Subsequently, the authorities lifted about 100 wools installed in the forest, and at the home of Gabriel Dănilă, a wire chain, three of the shower and 30 kg of red meat were found. The expertise performed at the National Museum of Natural History “Grigore Antipa” confirmed that it was the carpatin and deer. At the home of Constantin Munteanu, a spear with a 25 cm metal blade, a piece of pork, a deer horn and a cranial bone with the horns still attached.
The three defendants were sued for poaching. The forest man who knew Constantin Munteanu testified in his favor, claiming that he did not stole wood or animals and that he was a good householder. However, the judges rejected this testimony as biased and insufficient to exonerate the defendants.
During the investigation, Dănilă initially acknowledged participation in poaching in December 2020, but later changed the statement, stating that he had found a dead boar and did not know what had been recorded. The court found that his statements were not conforming to reality.
The magistrates of the Vaslui Court found the prescription of the criminal liability for Răzvan Munteanu (son), but found guilty Constantin Munteanu and Gabriel Dănilă. According to the law, the poaching act is punished with imprisonment between 6 months and 3 years or with a fine.
The judges decided to suspend the execution of the sentence and to apply a two -year supervision term: Dănilă – 1 year and 5 months, Munteanu – 1 year and 8 months. In addition, the two were forced to pay in solidarity the AJVPS Vaslui the sum of 9,000 euros, representing the value of two wild boars, a deer and a deer. The sentence was challenged by Dănilă, and the file was taken over by the Iași Court of Appeal.
