“We must be prepared.” Viktor Orban, accused of wanting to annex the Ukrainian region Transcarpathia
A representative of the Hungarian community in Ukraine warned the Kiev authorities to be prudent and not to allow Hungary to increase its influence in the Transcarpathian region.

Tibor Tompa, the president of the Hungarian community in Kyiv, told News. Live and quoted by the dialogue, that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban could try to use the political blackmail to increase his influence in the area and, in the long term, even to follow the annexation of the region.
According to him, the option of forced confiscation is excluded: the Hungarian army has about 30 thousand soldiers, which does not allow him to carry out wide -scale operations, says Tompa, who also stressed that a significant part of the European aid received by Budapest is diverted, which further reduces the state's capabilities.
“We must be prepared. Transcarpathia must be much more oriented towards the Ukrainian public, especially in information plane,” he insisted.
The representative of the community pointed out that education is an essential area that can limit the influence of Hungary and can maintain the region in the Ukrainian cultural and informational field.
Experts point out that Orban's rhetoric and political actions are increasingly aligned with Moscow's interests, which amplifies tensions between Ukraine and the states of the European Union. In this context, Transcarpathia becomes for Budapest a priority area of interest and a pressure tool on Kiev.
Ukraine, according to representatives of the Hungarian community, should strengthen the internal stability of the region and resist the attempts of the “unfriendly” neighbors to use the ethnic factor in their political games.
