Trump's envoy warns: Hungary and Slovakia must give up Russian gas and nuclear energy

The US Secretary of Energy, Chris Wright, said on Friday, appealing to the European buyers of Russian fossil fuels to give up the campaign against the efforts of the Community block to end the addiction from Moscow and to buy, in return, according to Politico.

On Friday at an event in Brussels, where, this week, he had meetings with officials to discuss the growth of American liquefied natural gas and interruption of the flow of funds for Russia's war against Ukraine, Wright said that Europe would be supplied from “his friends. “

“We want to see nuclear technology from the United States or from the EU”

When asked by Politico if countries such as Hungary and Slovakia, who opposed the efforts of the European Commission to gradually give up Russian gas, should eventually end the relations with the Kremlin, Wright replied.

“We want to replace all Russian gas. President Trump, America and all EU nations, we want to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. The more we manage to collect Russia's ability to finance this criminal war, the better for us all. So the answer to your question is categorically yes“Wright said.

Trump's envoy asked European countries to find alternatives to Russian atomic energy, saying that “We want to see nuclear technology from the United States or from the EU ”.

We recall that on Thursday, September 11, the highest court of the EU decided that the Commission was wrong when it allowed Hungary to provide state aid to fund a major extension of its nuclear installations with “Russia's support.” The Court of Justice has stated that officials should have determined whether the construction of Paks II plant, in partnership with the Russian state company, violated the public procurement rules.

Politico recalls that Hungarian friend Viktor Orban has long been advocated in favor of the Paks II project and against EU sanctions against Russia, including the Plan of Energy Dan Jørgensen to gradually eliminate all gas imports from this country by 2027.
