Alba Iulia downs a World Guinness record: 10,000 people at the table that unites 2.7 km of recycled materials

Alba Iulia is preparing to write history. On September 13, 2025, Alba Carolina Fortress will be surrounded “In trenches” – His ditches will host the longest table of recyclable materials in the world. 2.7 kilometers of wood will be transformed into a symbol of the community, where 10,000 people will take place. The event, monitored by the team Guinness World Recordsnot only aims to establish a record, but also to promote the city and cultural hubs in Romania.

But “Mass that unites” It does not mean only impressive figures: it is a symbolic gesture that wants to transform the city of the Great Union into the capital of unity, tradition and community spirit.
The event in Alba Iulia will be more than a meal: it will be a multisensory experience. Plates with vegetables, wings and fruit, live music from The MotansTulnicărese from the Country of Zarand and spaces dedicated to children will transform the day into a feast of mankind. Everything is done sustainably: plates, flowers and food will be able to be taken home, emphasizing the respect for the environment and the idea of reuse.
“Truth” He spoke with Alexa Vîlcan, the initiator of the project, and with Alexandra Miho, the organizer of the event, to discover the story behind “The meal that unites”how to prepare the world record, what surprises are waiting for the 10,000 participants and what message the event for the community in Romania sends.

The unit that unites – the story behind the Guinness record in Alba Iulia
Alexa Vîlcan, the initiator “The meal that unites” and the founder Bloom The Worldbegan for a few years to gather people at meals in completely unique places: on the top of the mountain, on the rocks at the sea, in the forest or even in the caves (See photo gallery).
The story started in 2019, from the desire to connect people differently, through tables organized right in the garden of the house, along with friends and acquaintances. Three years later, in 2021, Alexa decided to “Walk” Bloom tables through the most spectacular places in Romania, turning every meeting into a unique experience. The first of the Bloom tables stretched her at the Piefoaia Waterfall, “On the cold and fog”. “Then I realized that what I do can flourish whole communities. That's how Bloom The World was born”she tells.
Over the years, the project has gathered whole communities around the table. Over one hundred Bloom events took place in the most unexpected corners of Romania – from cascades to rocks on the sea – bringing together hundreds of participants, to highlight the natural frame.
At the Meziad cave, people discovered the beauty of the place fascinated, on Lake Saint Ana spread the meal even on the frozen water, and on Mount Little he took the table with the helicopter: “After this experience, I knew that a new challenge was followed for me and I remembered my dream of entering The Book of Records. And how else, if not with a meal? ”.
A huge idea transformed into record: from meals to unique places at the Guinness table in Alba Iulia
What started with stretched tables on mountain peaks, at the seafront or in caves turns on Saturday, September 13, at Alba Iulia (See video)in the most ambitious project so far: a Guinness World Records table, unprecedented.
“At the table we not only eat – at the table we learn, we negotiate, we work, we make decisions. At the table there is a lot of things. The table is ubiquitous in our lives and, often, at the table start and end important stages, since you are born until you die,” explains Alexa Vîlcan, for “Truth”, the idea behind the project “The mass that unites”.
And in Alba Iulia, the initiative reaches a level where, so far, Alexa did not dare to dream: “The message of the table is that only together we can achieve what we propose. A single man cannot do what 10,000 can do.”
A world record built of thousands of hands in Alba Iulia
Behind the table that will surround the Alba Carolina Fortress are months of work and an army of people united by the same dream. Over a year and eight months of preparations, hundreds of volunteers, sponsors and partners have shrugged next to the shoulder to turn the idea into a world record worthy of Guinness Book.
Since September 6, the ditches of the fortress have been filled with 15,000 pallets-the raw material of a meal as it has not seen before. “It is incredible how 1,000 people have united their forces for this dream to become a reality. They excite their dedication.” I confess to Unison Alexa Vîlcan and Alexandra Miho.
But as the organizers recognize, “The table does not exist without the people who occupy it.” And on September 13, 10,000 participants will sit shoulder to the same table, raised from Europallets and Reused Doka panels. In front of them, plateaus with vegetables, fins and fruits; in the air, the live music of The Motans; And over the fortress, the sound of the tags in the country of Zarand, who will open the event with the voice of tradition.
From free meal to generosity leap: meal lesson that unites
“This Saturday, we try to set a new record for Guinness World Records. It will be the longest table in recyclable materials and will take 10,000 people. The Guinness team will decide if the criteria are met,” says Alexandra Miho, the organizer of the event.
But the project does not stop at spectacular figures. “Mass that unites” She is thought of as a chain of good: each of the 10,000 participants, who take part for free, is invited to carry on the experience – to offer a hot meal to others.
“Everyone present participates for free, but we challenge them to continue the gesture and to offer, in their turn, a hot mass for those who need it.”emphasizes Alexa Vîlcan about the event whose word of order is “humanity”.
In order for nothing to be wasted, everything that will be on the table, from the plates made especially for the event in a limited edition, from recycled ceramics, to flowers, can be taken home.
Alba Iulia, the host of the Guinness meal-recorded with 10,000 participants
Alba Iulia was not chosen by chance. The fortress of the Great Union, the place where the history of Romania has been written, now becomes the scene of a new symbol of the unit – a table that is stretched for an entire city. A simple gesture, but loaded with strength: to stay together at the same table.
For Alexa Vîlcan, the choice is even more personal: “I have a childhood in the city and lived here beautiful moments. It is the ideal place for a record table-a city with history, with its people, which allows us to do an event of such magnitude.”
But beyond the record, the event brings together values that Romania values, but which we have forgotten lately: community, solidarity, hospitality and respect for tradition. In a way, the table from Alba Iulia becomes the bridge between the past and present, between history and humanity, a place where people remember that together they can do really great things.
Details about participation in record
Participation in the fortress and in the event is allowed only to those registered on the official website, who received the QR code. The lists were already closed on Tuesday, September 9th.

Holiday atmosphere
The organizers promise that between 16.00 and 19.30 the cities of the fortress will be animated by special activities, meant to create a holiday atmosphere and to warm the spirit of the crowd before the big moment.
Participants are encouraged to come in folk costumes or at least dressed in an ie, for the table to become not only a record, but also a symbol of Romanian tradition and identity.
From Alba Iulia, to the world: the unit that unites, the global symbol of the unit
“Mass that unites” It is not only a logistics challenge and a Guinness record, but a message: in the era of speed and consumption, a huge mass, built from recyclable materials, together brings thousands of people to celebrate the unity, tradition and respect for the environment.
Words like “Community”, “tradition”, “humanity” and “unit” define the spirit of the event. On September 13, Alba Iulia will not be just a city – it will become the scene of a world record meal, a symbol of collaboration and goodwill, showing that when people unite, the impossible becomes possible. On this day, the city of the Great Union writes a new history page, transforming the local community into an example for the whole world.
