Two chiefs from Elcen, including the general manager, Claudiu Crețu, put under judicial control in the bribe -taking case

General Manager and the Commercial Director of the Commercial Company Electrocentrale București SA (ELCEN Bucharest), Claudiu Crețu and Cristian Zamfiroi, were under judicial control by the anti-corruption prosecutors for a period of 60 days, the two being charged in a corruption file.

According to DNA, on July 1, 2025, the general director of Elcen, Claudiu Crețu, would have received through his accomplice, Cristian Zamfiroi, in the office of a commercial company in Bucharest, the amount of 40,000 lei from its representative, in connection with the urgent approval of the payments of the invoices issued by the respective company.

Anti -corruption prosecutors also claim that, on July 10, 2025, Claudiu Crețu would have claimed, through the Zamfiroi accomplice, from the administrator of a company, the amount of 1,565,000 euros, in connection with the sale – the purchase of a land owned by the respective commercial company.

Also, on July 30, 2025, Cristian Zamfiroi would have claimed from the administrator of a trading company, in contractual relations with Elcen, the amount of 50,000 lei in connection with the fulfillment of documents that entered his duties.

During the judicial control period, the two defendants are not allowed to leave the territory of Romania and cannot exercise the functions of directors within ELCEN.

The DNA also reported that investigations are carried out in the file for other persons for committing corruption offenses.

The anti -corruption prosecutors did the searches on the headquarters of Electral Central Bucharest (ELCEN) on Tuesday. Judicial sources told Hotnews that there were eight searches, at ELCEN headquarters, at the homes of natural persons and at work points of some companies.
