In Krasnoyarsk, cyberfires stole 12 million rubles from a 23-year-old student of the medical university.

The prosecutor’s office said that in August this year, the girl called on behalf of the mobile operator and warned that her SIM card could be blocked. To avoid this, it was necessary to “extend the contract.” There is no need to go anywhere, you just need to call a person a code from SMS messages.

Then the attackers, through a fake account of access to public services, imitated hacking and transferred the conversation to messengers.

“Acting harmoniously, a group of scammers consistently introduced a victim into a state of panic: they reported on loans, transfers abroad, and even criminal prosecution for“ cooperation with the enemy ”. The culmination was a video call with a man in the form with a official certificate who demanded to “declare” all family savings for “checking cleanliness,” the press service said.

A shocked student, following the instructions, took cash in rubles, dollars and euros from her mother for a total of 6 million rubles, as well as jewelry. In the indicated place, she handed the money to the courier, who called the code word “Mukhtar”.

But the scheme did not end there. Under the pretext of “increasing the credit potential” and “returning the funds”, scammers forced her to apply for loans and make many transfers from her own accounts and mother’s accounts through various banks and payment systems, taking possession of every ruble with deception.

The total damage exceeded 12 million rubles. A criminal case of fraud has been instituted (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The prosecutor’s office noted that since the beginning of 2025, 6,603 residents of the region became victims of Internet criminals, the damage caused amounted to 1.83 billion rubles. At the same time, the percentage of disclosure of such crimes is only 27.3 % (1167 crimes are disclosed). Only 555 criminal cases went to the courts of the region.
