The Trump administration attacks the US higher education institutions, as they do authoritarian governments to suffocate any independent thinking, the former Harvard University president said on Wednesday, AFP reported.

This prestigious institution is in the collimator of President Donald Trump, who accuses the great American universities to be bastions of anti -conservative and anti -Semitic ideology, especially in the context of the manifestations denouncing the military campaign in Gaza.

Donald Trump cut over $ 2.6 billion financing the Harvard University with over $ 2.6 billion, while also seeking to block the arrivals of international students – a quarter of his herds.

“The truth is that our government, the US government, attacks higher education and universities,” said the former Harvard president, Claudine Gay, at the Institute of Human and Social Sciences in Amsterdam.

“It is desired to destroy knowledge institutions because they are independent thinking and information centers,” she added.

“Nothing justifies and does not explain this. Apart from the fact that the authoritarian powers do not like independent reflection and information centers,” she said.

The first African-American woman from Harvard leadership in 368 years, Claudine Gay resigned in January 2024 in the context of a scandal related to alleged anti-Semitic demonstrations during the war protests in the Gaza Strip.
