On Wednesday, in the capital of the United States, Polish President Karol Nawrocki met with the American leader Donald Trump. The day before, in Miami, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski had a conversation with the Secretary of US State Marek Rubio.
These events coincided with the visit of the Hungarian foreign minister Peter Szijjarto in Beijing, where he participated in a military parade organized by the authorities of the Chinese People's Republic. First of all, among the invited guests were, among others Russian President Vladimir Putin, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and President of Belarus Aleksander Łukashenko.
The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs referred to the presence of Szijjarto at this event, publishing a short but eloquent entry on the platform X. “It seems that you play in another team, Peter Szijjarto” – Sikorski wrote, publishing a photo from Beijing.
The photograph he chose presented the leaders of the authoritarian states at the head of the parade. In the upper right corner you can also see a Hungarian minister.
Sikorski comments on the visit of Szijjarto in China
Although Szijjarto did not respond directly to Sikorski's attention, he published his own position in social media, in which he emphasized the assumptions of the foreign policy of Hungary. He noted that for Budapest, both the United States and China remain the key non -European partners.
“Our interest is clear: we want Washington and Beijing to work well with each other. The global economy cannot prosper in confrontation. Therefore, we hope that cooperation between the USA and China will improve significantly in the coming period. Hungary will continue to build bonds with east and West, because we believe in global cooperation and not divided,” wrote the boss of the diplomacy.
In addition to Szijjarto, other European leaders were also present at the Chinese military parade, including Serbia President Aleksandar Vucić and the Prime Minister of Slovakia Robert Fico. In total, about 55 foreign ruling and delegations appeared on the square in Tiananmen in Beijing.
