A course for gold search (and on the occasion of other minerals)

You can invest in gold, you can rinse through them from savings, but interestingly – you can rinse them – and from Polish rivers. Minerals, including self -duties, can be found almost everywhere, especially in Lower Silesia. How to approach this noble hobby, what to buy, what consent should be made and – above all – where to go, we talk with Jakub Dudziński and his son Olek, who this year won or rather flushed, the title, the world champion of the junior.

Gold is simply … shines and does not move when everything else is rinsed out of the bowl, thanks to the movement of the rinser – this is how the Dudziński gentlemen describe their unusual hobby, which took them to the world leaders of mineral seekers.

This passion was infected with their holy memory by Roksana “Rock'si” Knapik, an excellent geologist, a great teacher, a Sudeten guide who died with her husband Andrzej Sokołowski in an avalanche while climbing in the Slovak Tatras. She organized actions “with a hammer to the mountains” – usually it was a two -hour trip, in which she took 20 people and set off with them in search of minerals.

– We soaked in it that in 2022 we appeared for the first time in the world championships in golden rinsing – explains Jakub Dudziński. What is it about? The competitors enter the rushes, i.e. specially prepared pools. They have a bowl and a vial with a cloth. From the judges they receive a bucket with sand mixed with gold. Rinse the gold that is put into a vial as soon as possible.

Olek Master's time is 1 minute 17 seconds. He managed to find 17 gold particles at the time. How are they big? It depends on the country of origin. In the case of, for example, Finnish gold (which most likely comes from Lapland), 1 gram of gold falls about 280 particles. In turn, Italian gold, which is slightly flatter, but meets the requirements of the federation, is about 380 particles per 1 gram. The cost of this 1 gram is about 95 euros.

Gold and other minerals are heavier than the rest of the Earth. So they accumulate in certain places of rivers that need to be learned to recognize them. One of such characters are, for example, leading fishing weights. If there is a river bend, there is a high probability that there is gold there.

You do not need special permits for rinsing gold, of course, following the rules. You can take debris, river gravel and sieve them through a bowl or rinsing plant (it creates a special riverbed that is lined with a mat with grooves – car mats are suitable for this. The flowing water currents are separated by gold and other minerals from the rest, causing that they set in grooves).

The countries that are the most friendly golden rinses include, among others Scandinavian countries. There, the municipalities themselves designate plots in which you can start individual search. More importantly, in Scandinavian countries, after finding gold, they should simply be reported to the Mining Office for registration.

The head of the tax office did not lose this gold in this place so that he would like to want part of what I found, right? – Mr Jakub says with a laugh.

The most restrictive is, among others South Africa. There, how the rinses joke, it is better to smuggle weapons or other forbidden substances than natural gold.

However, rinsing gold is not only a fever of looking for a metal, but also a way to spend time together, and you do not have to remain silent when rinsing, like fishing. You can also get to know fascinating enthusiasts or meet … reindeer who, with surprise during the polar day, looked at the rummaging in “their stream” to the father and son. And you don't need much to start.

– Just a bowl. You can pour the sand and count happiness – adds Olek Dudziński. They do not advise the Odra – too much silt at the bottom, although you can always try.
