The new subject in schools is controversial

“I watched with children years ago, and recently with grandchildren, a well -known French cartoon” was life “. I highly recommend PiS MPs” – wrote the head of government.
The series, which in Poland first appeared on TVP1 in 1987, explained the functioning of individual organs in the human body in an accessible way, combining elements of science with entertainment.
What is health education?
Health education replaced the education for family life this year. It is a holistic subject, combining knowledge in the field of medical, natural, social, humanistic and strict sciences. The program includes issues related to physical, mental, sexual, social and environmental health, adapted to all stages of life.
This year, the subject is optional – parents who do not want their children to participate in classes can submit a written resignation to the school head until September 25. Adult students do it themselves.
Opposition to the new item
Health education caused a lot of controversy. The clergy call for opposition, and some right -wing politicians encourage parents to write children from lessons. In Gdańsk, a protest is planned for the town hall, whose organizers – including PiS politicians – say directly about the “depravity of children and youth”.
The subject was also loud in the context of the ignorance of politicians. During the “Political Morning” program, on TVP Info, Magdalena Pernet, the politicians asked about the difference between the period and ovulation. PiS MP Andrzej Kosztowniak admitted: “I don't know, I don't remember. I was not interested in it, I admit, even on biology.” Deputy Minister of Sport and Tourism Ireneusz Raś added: “I will not argue with my friends”, and the senator of the new left Marcin Karpiński pointed out that “he will not enter these topics”.
The journalist summed up it directly: “And here I am asking you, we have a response to whether this item is needed.” CPACTROAK added that the leader knows this from biology, he also studied, but he does not remember it. In turn, Adrian Witczak from KO invited PiS deputies to tutoring, showing that health education can be not only controversial, but also needed.
