Europe develops “quite precise plans” for a development of multinational troops in Ukraine, as part of post-conflict security guarantees that will support American capabilities, the president of the European Commission said, Ursula von Der Leyen, in an interview for the Financial Times published on Sunday, reports Reuters.
“President (American Donald) Trump assured us that there will be (a) American presence in the security device (Backstop),” said Ursula von der Leyen, adding that “this has been clear and stated repeatedly,” Agerpres cites.
The conduct would potentially include tens of thousands of troops led by Europeans, supported by the US assistance, including through control and control systems, as well as means of information and surveillance, writes the Financial Times, adding that this arrangement was agreed between US President Donald Trump, the Ukrainian Solodimir and the Ukrainian.
European leaders, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, and the head of European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, are expected to meet in Paris on Thursday, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron, to continue discussions about Ukraine, quoting three informed diplomats about these plans.
