A 53-year-old man from Sălătrucel commune arrived at the hospital on Friday evening after being attacked by a bear in an area outside the town, Agerpres reports.
According to representatives of the Inspectorate of County Gendarmes (IJJ) Vâlcea, the man has a bite at one of the hands and was transported to the Emergency Reception Unit, conscious and cooperative, by a crew of the County Ambulance Service.
“From the first information, the man returned with the animals to the sheep he owns on the outskirts of the town, at which point he was surprised by the bear and attacked. At the arrival of the gendarmes crews, the animal was not found. The gendarmes patrolled the area, using the acoustic and luminous signals of the special vehicles, Ijj Vâlcea, George Tacăle.
The representative of the Vâlcea Gendarmerie said that the gendarmes' crews will remain in the area to ensure that the wilderness will not return, especially since a few days ago the presence of a bear was reported behind a household in the village of Şerbăneşti.
In order to prevent such incidents, the gendarmes recommend citizens to avoid traveling in forested or isolated areas, especially during the evening and night, not to leave household scraps that could attract wild animals near the households and immediately signal any presence of the bear by appealing to the unique emergency number 112.
