The pension in the judiciary will no longer be able to exceed 70% of the value of the last salary, prime minister Ilie Bolojan announced at the end of the Government meeting on Friday, in which the package of fiscal-budgetary recovery measures was adopted. Also, the retirement age for prosecutors and judges will gradually increase to 65 years.
“The project regarding the pensions of the magistrates solves two of the three major problems related to the efficiency and equity of this field, respecting the independence of justice. We cannot avoid the negative accumulations of recent years. The first is the retirement to a professional maturity, which can no longer continue. The meeting in which the Executive adopted the second package of fiscal measures, for those will take responsibility in the Parliament.
The second aspect solved by this legislative project – said Bolojan – is the value of the pension in the judiciary. “I had an abnormal situation, which is not found anywhere, that the value of the pension is equal to the last pay. The average value of a pension is 24,000-25,000 lei. In the formula proposed by law, the pension in the judiciary will not be able to exceed 70% of the value of the last salary, which is the highest value of the pension,” he said.
According to Bolojan, however, another major problem remains to be solved in the magistracy sector, namely the creation of a “clear pay system” in the field.
“The third component, which is not resolved, but must be clarified as soon as possible, is a clear pay system. On the current system I had 23,000 processes and has been in the situation for the state to pay over 2 billion euros and there are still so many differences that will have to pay,” explained Bolojan.
Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced that five of the legislative projects that are part of the package 2 reforms were adopted in the extraordinary meeting on Friday.
The sixth legislative project, the one regarding the public administration, is to be discussed on Sunday.
Bolojan expressed confidence that by the end of next week all six packages will be approved by assuming liability. The agenda of the Government is that by October 1, these proposals will enter into force.
The government has adopted package 2 of austerity measures. The project that provides the redundancies in the town halls has been removed at the last moment from the agenda and will be redissed in coalition / Executive members have notified that they do not accept the questions of journalists after briefing
