Hundreds of Romanian tourists were threatened to evacuate the hotel, although they had paid the stay, because the travel agency, one of the oldest in Romania, did not pay its collaborators.

Cocktail Holidays has cash flow problems and it is not known whether it will overcome them or not. The owner of the company, Dan Goicea, who is also vice -president of the National Association of Travel Agencies (ANAT), could not be contacted for statements.

Alin Burcea, ANAT president, said that the Touroperator Cocktail Holidays has problems with money and is likely to ask for insolvency. The ANAT representative advises tourists who bought packages from Cocktail Holidays not to get on the plane and check if payments were made to airlines and to hotels where they were to be accommodated.

Alin Burcea also accuses the Government of not being receptive at the proposal of travel agencies, regarding the establishment of a guarantee fund of travel agencies and another guarantee fund for air tickets, the extent for which normative acts are needed.

Some resale travel agencies say that they had to pay for hotel accommodations, which should have been paid by Cocktail Holidays.

Several families in Tenerife, Spain, have learned that on Friday, August 29, they have no accommodation, as the tour-operator from which the holiday packages were not paid. The hotel they were staying in mind to leave the location as the payment was not made. Tourists went on vacation with a holiday package sold by Cocktail Holidays, from which they purchased and resold other travel agencies.

The travel agency was established in 1993. According to the company's website, Cocktail Holidays collaborates with over 1,700 resale partners from all over the country.

On the company's own Facebook page, Cocktail Holidays continues to promote the holiday destinations, for example circuits in Japan for the spring of 2026 or holidays in Morocco, Abu Dhabi or Sicily.

At one of these posts, a person writes that the Touroperator Cocktail Holidays has harmed 50 people only in Tenerife.

“No star !!! Zero !!!! This company now 28.08.2025 gave a number of 50 people who arrived in Tenerife by the fact that they did not pay the stay at hotels and the transfer from the airport to the hotel and vice versa! This agency does not respond to any phone number (fixed or mobile). Mail mentioned on Facebook .. it is not valid. We have all the evidence and today 28.08 we will go on the legal path to recover the damage!“Writes the user on the Facebook page of Cocktail Holidays.

Several affected tourists also write that the Cocktail Holidays travel agency “does not respond to any communication channel. “

On the Facebook group Forum Greece, another person wrote a month ago that he could not embark on the plane, when he returned to the house, because Cocktail Holidays did not send the full list of passengers to the airline.

“Pay attention to tourists! We want to share an extremely unpleasant experience with Cocktail Holidays, in the hope that you will avoid similar situations. Today, we arrived at the airport to return home, but surprise: we couldn't all embark because Cocktail Holidays did not send the full list of passengers to the airline! Basically, although I paid the tourist pack in full, we were not recorded on the charter flight. More serious is that now we are asked to pay for the plane tickets again, as if the mistake were ours. We consider this unacceptable and without professionalism. Of course they blocked me as soon as I posted on their page ”writes the user on the Greece Forum group.

There are travel agents who have been informed, by email, by Cocktail Holidays, to recommend tourists not to go on vacation.

“We received the mail from Cocktail Holidays: Hello, we are sorry to inform you that for your reservation with tomorrow in Crete the tourist services by Cocktail Holidays were not paid to the suppliers, therefore the reservation will be canceled. Neither the air tickets are not paid nor the accommodation. Cocktail Holidays will take all the steps to return the amounts paid by you for this timely reservation! Please inform tourists not to come to the airport! ”writes another user.

ANAT: It is not necessary to make a drama that a bankruptcy happens

Alin Burcea, ANAT president, says he has not been able to talk to Dan Goicea, founder and owner of Cocktail Holidays, who has not answered the phone for several days.

“It's an old agency, it happens. Bad management exists everywhere. It is not necessary to make a drama that a bankruptcy is happening at 2,400 travel agencies. The problem is not that it has Cocktail Holidays problems, it is more or less managed resources ”said ANAT president.

Alin Burcea accuses the government of all the bankruptcy of tourism and did not respond to the proposal of the travel agencies, regarding the establishment of a fundraising fund of the travel agencies and another guarantee fund for air tickets.

“We, the ANAT, have been carrying for three years with the fund for the guarantee of travel agencies and the fund for the guarantee of airlines, that these are also bankrupt. What does guarantee fund mean? It means that money is raised and, in case of bankruptcy, everyone recovers all their money. Burcea: It will probably ask for insolvency months

He states that Cocktail Holidays has not yet asked for insolvency, but the company has no money.

But there are services that are not paid on certain destinations or are partially paid. Colleagues, generally touroperators, offered, where Cocktail Holidays had purchased tickets, such as parallel. The tickets that Cocktail Holidays had bought from us or contracted, we give free to the agencies that bought the product. And then, either the tourist or the agency who registered, will have to pay only the accommodation, to go to that destination. We do what we can. I am aware that I can no longer take the money from the cocktail and then on the places they had in parallel 45 or dertour or other tour operators from where the places had taken, we give these places for tourists for free, we can do so “ Burcea explained.

Asked how long he faces Cocktail Holidays problems, he said “yesterday”.

“From yesterday. Probably with money it has been for a few months. But the problems started yesterday or yesterday. Tourists from Cyprus, the services were not paid, the tourists were able to pay it once more. And in Tenerife. We know about these. He states that he does not know exactly how many tourists are affected in total, but there are probably other tourists who have bought holiday packages and would have left in the next period.

“There were about 40 and some people on Cyprus, there was about 30 on Tenerife and Rodos. I don't think more than 400-500 people are affected. Since nobody speaks from them … I know what is happening, that I kept in touch with Dan Goicea, but it would be normal to announce, to talk to people, at least not to leave. Not to get on the plane. Generally, air tickets are solved, but they have to cooperate with us. What the people who have given money have to do and who will not have services to ask, that there is insolvency and bankruptcy insurance. The problem is that this 10 -year insurance or since it works, does not cover the whole amount. Never covered all the amount. And this is one of the gaps that we wanted to solve ”he said.

In his opinion, today he has Cocktail Holidays problems, but tomorrow they can have other travel agencies.

“The resolution on the merits comes from a good normative act, to help the people, to have problems, to take their money. The insurance policy, whatever the amount would be, do not know how to pay less. And from the experience of the last ten years, they did not give more than 15% of the amount to be given.

He also said that Monday, 25 Sugust, spoke with Dan Goicea last time.

In his opinion, Cocktail Holidays will have to ask for insolvency. The company would not have paid its purchased air tickets and did not make payments to external suppliers.

He states that the image of travel agencies will be affected again by these problems of Cocktail Holidays.

“There are also insolvency televisions that work and nobody dies. It is good that it happened at the end of the season and not in the middle of the season ”he added.

President Anaa advises tourists who bought packages from Cocktail Holidays not to get on the plane.

“And if they are answered, check if the air tickets have been paid and the accommodations, to check if they were paid. Do not enjoy that they get on the plane and when I get there they ask for their money at the entrance to the hotel. I advise them not to go“Says Burcea.
