The government will increase the power of windmills despite the president's veto

On August 21, President Karol Nawrocki announced the veto of the amendment to the Act liberalizing the principles of building wind farms. The document also provided for freezing of electricity prices for households by the end of 2025. Nawrocki simultaneously submitted his own legislative initiative on energy prices.
“There is a presidential veto, we have already prepared a regulation and without a law, regardless of veto, we will increase the power of land windmills, primarily by so -called repivers” – said the head of government. He explained that it is about replacing older turbines with new, more efficient. – “These will be much more efficient turbines. Where environmental regulations will allow it, higher masts will also stand,” he added.
Tusk pointed out that although he himself “He doesn't like the landscape, where it is full of windmills,” but it is wind energy that is the cheapest and allows the system to balance. “We want, we must – and there is no alternative – to have cheaper energy. And this is an absolutely not only everyday life of Polish families,” he argued.
Freezing of electricity prices
The prime minister emphasized that the government would freeze electricity prices so that “Polish families do not pay extra for bills”, because – as he added – “the entire economy and security of Poland depends on low energy prices”. He also assured that the government's actions would be in line with the constitution. “Where the act is needed, we will submit these projects. We are submitted at the same time methods that do not require statutory changes,” he explained.
As he announced, detailed repowering solutions are to be presented on Wednesday by climate minister Paulina Hennig-Kloska and Minister of Energy Miłosz Motyk.
The amendment to the Act on investments in the field of wind farms assumed, among others Departure from the so -called Principles 10h and introduction of a minimum distance of 500 meters for new turbines from residential buildings (currently 700 m). The document also provided for an extension of freezing energy prices by the end of 2025.
