The draw was made by Gabriel Bodescu, Deputy Secretary General of the Federation, and Mihai Andrieș, the representative of the Competition Department within the FRF. In the first ballot box there were 8 balls, related to the 8 teams of the first league entered this phase of the competition. These are newly promoted (FC Argeș and Csikszereda), winners of maintenance/promotion (Unirea Slobozia and Metaloglobus), respectively the teams ranked 3-6 in the preceding season.

In the other ballot box were crammed – on its own – 24 balls, with the names of the 24 teams that passed the previous round.

Curious is the fact that Bodescu, the leader in charge of 24, first removed even the last ball he had put in the bowl. He put his right hand on it, passed it to the left, mimicked the mixing of the other balls, but eventually he removed that ball, with which he had always been in contact. In this was the ticket related to the second division Corvin Hunedoara. Thus, the first match in the play-off phase, Corvin-Constanta Lighthouse was established.

Gabriel Bodescu's gap was recognized by the FRF, who transmitted in a statement that it is not the case of repeating the draw.

FRF admits that the urine size used for extraction was smaller than it would have been ideal to ensure easier ball mixing. However, this aspect did not affect the correctness of the process in any way, as the mixing and extraction were performed in compliance with the procedures, in front of the representatives of some of the clubs participating in this phase and live on FRF TV, guaranteeing transparency and impartiality.

The Romanian Football Federation categorically rejects any attempt to create the impression that there would have been some favoritization or arrangement in the extraction, punctually the match Corvin Hunedoara – Farul Constanța, and remains dedicated to the principles of integrity, transparency and equity in organizing national competitions, being firmly against any non -suggestion!
