The head of German diplomacy, Johann Wadeph, said on Sunday that security guarantees for post -war Ukraine should be supported by a wide range of states, including outside Europe, according to DPA, Agerpres reports.
The government of Germany organized a day of the open gates on Sunday, and during the event the Minister of Foreign Affairs took. Johann Wadeph has said that it is important to participate in the US security guarantees, but that others are needed. He claims that about 30 countries have expressed their availability, including Japan.
In an interview broadcast on Sunday by NBC, US Vice-President JD Vance said the US will not send troops to Ukraine, but will play “an active role in trying to ensure that Ukrainians have security guarantees.”
Guarantees comparable to “what NATO accession means”
The German Minister of Foreign Affairs believes that security guarantees are needed that “closely approach what NATO accession means.”
“We cannot expect Ukraine to take into consideration territorial concessions if it does not receive at least one security guarantee from as many states as possible, so that the rest is then safe,” said Minister Wadeph.
The head of German diplomacy said that such a situation would be no risk to Russia. He expressed his hope that Russian President Vladimir Putin will be convinced to conclude a support support by security guarantees. The possible agreement, said the German official, can then be a basis for returning to peace in Europe.
Johann Wadeph has stated that Ukraine must be able to defend itself and receive support from its guarantees in case of cessation of hostilities. A peace agreement cannot be a dictated peace in the disadvantage of Ukraine, the German minister added.
The head of German diplomacy has appealed to Russia's president to put an end to hostilities and negotiate. “Otherwise, it must continue to count on our clear resistance with Ukraine,” Wadeph concluded.
The Russian Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, in an interview for the NBC, also spoke about the security guarantees, in which he said that Ukraine “must be neutral, not be aligned with any military block and be non-nuclear.”
