– To finance the growing defense expenses, the Ministry of Finance is planning an increase in income tax rate from banks – Deputy Minister of Finance Jarosław Neneman told PAP. – The rate will increase from 19 percent. up to 30 percent In 2026, in 2027 it will be 26 percent, and in the following years it will be 23 percent. He added.

The Ministry of Finance estimates that changes will result in increasing CIT revenues in 2026 by approx. PLN 6.5 billion. “In total, over a period of 10 years, the proposed solutions are to bring the budget over PLN 20 billion, which will constitute an important share of the banking sector in financing the state budget expenditure, in particular increased needs in relation to expenditure on security and health care,” the Ministry of Finance said in a Thursday communication.
This year, the budget is to obtain over PLN 6.9 billion from bank tax, i.e. tax on certain financial institutions. From January to July this year, revenues from this source amounted to less than PLN 4.1 billion.
