Canoist Cătălin Chirilă missed the presence in the struggle of medals at the Milan World Championships in the Neolympic Sample

Cătălin Chirilă (27 years old) ranked in the fourth position in the second semifinal of the canoe sample 1-500 m and missed the presence in the final at the World Championships held on Lake Idroscalo.

The Romanian athlete will not be present in the final of the canoe sample 1-500 m, after being the first under the line in his semi-final, thus to evolve on Friday in the final B.

On Wednesday, Chirilă passed the series in this test, and on Thursday he presented at the beginning to get a place in the final, where the first three ranking went. The Romanian started hard and was in fourth place after the first 250 meters. It remained in the same position and at the end, being surpassed by Daniel Fejes from Hungary (1: 48.42), Mattia Alfobens from Italy (1: 49.55) and Hleb Chabatarou from Russia (1: 49.67).

Chirilă, who has three medals in this sample, a gold, a silver and a tan, ended the race in 1: 50.21. He will evolve in the final B Friday, from 4:25 pm.

Also on Friday morning, Chirila will be present in the semifinals of the 1,000 m sample, Olympic distance. He was distributed in the first semifinal, scheduled at 11:56.

On Thursday, Ilie Sprîncean and Oleg Nuță competed in the series of 2-500 m canoe sample. They ranked third, with a time of 1: 41,16, and advanced in the semifinals, to compete for a place in the final on Saturday, from 12:28. In their series were detached by Zakhar Petrov/Ivan Shtyl (1: 38.26) and Gabriel Casadi/Carlo Tancchini (1: 38.84).

Romania participates in the World Kaiac-Canoe championships with eight athletes. Kaiacist Bianca Istrătescu stopped in the series in the K1 -1,000 m test, and Georgel Bărăgău, Ioan Mihai Rotundu, Andrei Roşioru and Braulio Flores -Mateescu will evolve on Friday in the semifinals at C4 -500 m.
