Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized French President Emmanuel Macron in a letter consulted by AFP on Tuesday, accusing him of fuel anti-Semitism about the announcement of the recognition of the Palestinian state.
At the end of last month, Macron announced that France will officially recognize the state of Palestine during the UN General Assembly in New York, attracting a rapid reprimand from Israel.
In the letter sent to the French president, the Israeli prime minister claims that anti -Semitism has “raised” in France following the announcement.
“Your call for a Palestinian state pours fuel on this anti -Semitic fire. It is not diplomacy, it is pleased. It rewards the terror of Hamas, strengthens Hamas refusal to free the hostages, encourage those who threaten the French Jews and encourage hatred of the Jews, who now rogue you,” Natanyah wrote.
The Prime Minister of Israel asked the Paris leader to combat anti-Semitism in France, telling him that he must “replace weakness with action, liking with determination and doing so to a clear date: Jewish New Year, September 23”.
With Macron's announcement last month, France is about to join an increasing group of nations that have decided to recognize Palestine in the context of the Israeli offensive in the Gaza Strip, which was launched almost two years ago in response to Hamas in Israel.
Israel analyzes the proposal of armistice in Gaza
Currently, Israel is pressed to accept the proposal to cease the fire with which the Palestinian militant organization Hamas agreed and which is said to be almost identical to the variant promoted by the US, according to The Guardian.
An official Egyptian source said on Monday for Reuters that the project includes a suspension of Israeli military operations for a period of 60 days and states a framework for a comprehensive agreement to end the conflict broke out in October 2023. It also provides for the release of half of the hostages held in Palestinian and Palestinian.
The Israeli side said it would give a reply at the latest on Friday.
