Russia is opposed to the distribution of NATO troops in Ukraine – the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, cited by the Reuters agency, said on Monday. It also described as “provocative” statements on this subject flowing from London, who announced readiness to send soldiers to Ukraine as part of a security guarantee.

“At a time when there is a real emphasis on a comprehensive, fair and permanent solution to the conflict around Ukraine, including to deal with its causes, statements are still coming from London, which not only contradict the efforts of Moscow and Washington, but also seem to be aimed at their weakening,” the ministry said, referring to the narrative repeatedly repeated by the Kremlin, according to which the cause of Russian aggression on Ukraine is the cause Expansion of the North Atlantic Alliance.

Great Britain, who is the initiator of the “Coalition of Volunteers”, i.e. countries who want to support Ukraine, announced that she is ready to send her soldiers as part of a security guarantee in the event of a possible peace agreement.

Moscow has opposed the sending of NATO troops to Ukraine many times. However, a special envoy of the US President Steve Witkoff said in a Sunday interview with CNN television that Russia at the Friday meeting of Trump with the Russian leader Vladimir Putin in Alaska agreed to guarantee security similar to those contained in Article 5 of the NATO Treaty. He obliges to provide armed assistance to attacked allies. (PAP)
