Terrible, but it will not be better. The media analyzed the probable peace agreement, which will be proposed to Ukraine

The publication assumes that Ukraine will be proposed to transfer control over the Donbass in exchange for minor territorial concessions from Russia. The United States will offer Ukraine security guarantees, which in their opinion will be similar to Art. 5 Statute NATO.

If the final agreement is signed on these conditions, this should be considered as a national tragedy for Ukraine, the author of the article notes. After all, Ukraine, which for years courageously opposed the aggressor, will actually convey to Putin the land that he would never have received in battle. At the same time, this will probably be the best agreement that can be achieved today, he adds. Russia cannot capture all of Ukraine, and Ukraine cannot drive Russia from all over its territory.

However, there is still an occasion for optimism, the journalist believes. As confirmation, it gives likely options for the development of events. In particular, if Putin’s troops reached the goal at the beginning of the war on the way to Kyiv or if the United States had not resumed military assistance stopped for Ukraine after the Trump's dispute with Zelensky in the oval office. Given this, the potential peace agreement does not look so bad. At the same time, the publication pay attention to the details and proposes to calculate whether Putin will transfer significant Ukrainian territories to Putin the best result than the one that can be achieved due to a significant increase in arms deliveries to Ukraine and re -strengthening sanctions against Russia.

The Telegraph does not exclude that Putin's requirements are a negotiation stroke, and he puts forward more outrageous requirements in order to eventually allegedly give in and get what he really wants. If he manages to conclude an agreement, he will certainly try to declare his victory, the author believes. While, according to him, the fair end of the war in Ukraine would be a complete defeat of Putin and his exile from power in Moscow.

“But we are dealing with the world as it is, and not the way it should be. This is an agreement, no matter how terrible it may be, maybe the least bad option that remains for Ukraine and its Western allies,” the media summarizes.
