An employee of the US Department of Justice is accused of serious aggression after throwing a driver in a federal agent during President Donald Trump's operation to combat crime in Washington, DC, prosecutor Pam Bondi said on Thursday, according to Reuters.

Sean Dunn, 37, supported lawyers in international files within the criminal division of the Department, an official of the Department of Justice said.

“I just learned that this defendant worked at the Department of Justice – he no longer works,” Bondi wrote on X. “Not only was he fired, but he was also charged for a serious crime.”

Dunn has not yet formulated a response to the charges. His lawyer has not yet had any comment on the deed he is accused of, punished with up to a year in prison.

The incident drew attention, in the context in which the Trump administration sent federal agents to patrol from Washington and temporarily took control over the city police department, to combat what Trump presented as an emergency in the US capital, although statistics show that the violent crime has occurred significantly 2023.

The increased presence of federal agents has aroused reactions divided among the inhabitants of the city, predominantly democrat. Several agents on Wednesday night in patrol in the Navy Yard district were occasionally fed, and a passerby warned others to “hide their children and wives” and criticized the agents' antiglice vests.

Would have called “fascist” officers

Dunn was accused of aggression, resistance opposition and obstruction after, according to the accusations, he threw a sandwich on Sunday evening and US border protection. According to the criminal complaint, before hitting him, Dunn would have called “fascist” officers and shouted “I don't want you in my city!”, Then “he gave his arm on his back and forcefully threw the Sendviș” to the agent.

Dunn was detained on the spot and acknowledged that he had thrown the sandwich, according to the indictment. According to a video recording posted on social networks, the agent did not seem hurt.

Dunn was detained again on Wednesday night on Thursday, after the federal accusation was formulated. According to another official of the Department of Justice, his arrest was one of the nine in which the FBI was involved in Washington on Wednesday evening, for facts that varied from minor drugs to illegal weapons.

Around the midnight of Wednesday night, several agents detained a man in the Brightwood neighborhood for driving without a permit, after stopping him because he had the windows of the car excessively.

A local, who presented as Miss Anne, said that the intensification of the presence of law enforcement is not necessarily a bad thing. “Many things happen, so if that improves the situation, they are welcome,” she said. “But we must see if so much force is needed.”
