China stops any interaction with the president of the Czech Republic due to his visit to the Dalai Lama

In response to the question of China’s reaction regarding Pavel’s meeting with Tibet's spiritual leader, Jian called his actions provocative and condemned them.

“This seriously contradicts the political obligations taken by the Czech government to the Chinese government, and is harmful to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of China. China resolutely condemns and decisively opposes this, and expressed serious protests by the Czech side. Given the seriousness of the provocative actions of Pavel, China decides to stop any interaction with him,” the speaker of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Politico wrote that Paul during a private trip at the end of July met with the Dalai Lama living in exile in India to congratulate him on the 90th birthday.

China does not recognize the Tibetan government of exile and accuses Dalai Lama of separatism. Beijing regards any official contacts with him as a violation of the principle of the “unified China”, according to which Tibet is part of the PRC.

The media notes that this is not the first conflict that arose between Pavel and China. Earlier, the Czech president angered Beijing, calling President Taiwan Tsay Inven, shortly after his victory in the presidential election in January 2023, the article said.
