The villagers evacuated from Praid can return to their homes. Five local alert codes have been set

The population evacuated from the area of Salina Praid can return home from August 13, the County Emergency Committee (CJSU) Harghita decided, Agerpres informs.
According to a statement sent by the Prefect's Institution, CJSU Harghita debated and approved, in the extraordinary meeting on Tuesday, the “complete procedure for monitoring, alarm and evacuation for the safe return of the population in the Salina Praid area”, in the elaboration of which the “recommendations of the international experts were considered in the mechanics of the rhine, waters, mining and emergency situations ”.
What will the authorities monitor
According to the quoted source, the document establishes several parameters for monitoring the situation, respectively “the flow of the Corund stream, the salinity of the mine water, the concentration of methane gas in the mine, the amount of precipitation, the displacements detected by the ATS system, the magnitude of the phenomena detected by the microseismic system, the visible movements of the land and the field of the area of the Corund area visible on the streets, buildings and infrastructure elements ”.
At the same time, the alarm thresholds were established as well as five local alert codes (green, yellow, orange, red, “gas”), according to which the economic-social activity on the territory of the Praid commune is normally carried in the prefecture statement.
The approved procedure establishes the institutions responsible for its application, the information flow between them and the population, as well as the way of carrying out the operations related to each code.
It was also approved that the fixed gendarmes who ensured the perimeter's guard are replaced by patrol crews.
“We mention that before the procedure adopted, the successful test of the way of the institutions responsible for applying it was carried out. With the adoption of the procedure it was decided to safely return the evacuated population from the Praid Saline area, starting with August 13, 2025, 16 pm, the provisions of Decision no. affected by the surgery in the area of the old saline being suspended during the alert status ”, it is shown in the quoted statement.
“Salina can no longer be saved”
The Minister of Environment Diana Buzoianu told July 19 on Prima TV that Salina Praid can no longer be saved.
“From all the discussions we had with the experts, it is not a question if the ceiling would collapse, but when and how fast.
So it is very clear that there can no longer be saved that mine, it can be used. There were many institutions that waited for the disaster to happen. The reality is that I have seen the statements with the beasts. Somehow, the blame was to blame until the beavers were reached and the beavers could not say that “it is not our fault”. But, in short, there should have been intervenes for a long time, “said Diana Buzoianu, according to News.ro.
She said that since February 2023 the mine had been flooded major, and from the risk management plan proposed six months later by the Romanian waters “it appeared that there is a moderate flood risk”.
“So, I can say only on the Romanian waters. We do not enter what happened to Salrom (company subordinated to the Ministry of Economy that manages Salina Praid-no), with what happened with Conversmin (state company that manages the preservation of mines-no), with ANRM (National Regulatory Agency in the Mining field-no). In which we try to bring water as quickly as possible, in the short term, in Târnăveni.
