“Attention of jellyfish! Stop”. The largest nuclear power plant in France has stopped working

Four reactors at the largest nuclear power plant in France have ceased to operate due to the mass presence of jellyfish in cooling systems – the State Energy Spółka EDF said on Monday.


EDF said that all four reactors have automatically stopped because in stations pumping water for cooling reactors suddenly and large quantities appeared jellyfish. On Sunday, reactors No. 2, 3 and 4, and on Monday morning No. 6.
The power plant is located in the north of France in Gravelines at the shore of the North Sea and is the largest in France and Western Europe in terms of the number of reactors and production capacity. The company assured that the break in the work of reactors has no dangerous consequences for employees and the environment.
EDF assured that she was working on safe resumption of reactors' work. The announcement added that the other two reactors do not work because they are subject to maintenance work.
