Andrei Caramitru, alarm signal about the IQ of Romanians: “It is solved only with iodine”

Economist Andrei Caramitru has published on Facebook an analysis stating that Romania is facing a low level of the average IQ, located between 87 and 91. “Almost the last in Europe”, he says, citing data from Pisa tests and international studies.

According to Caramitru, the distribution of the IQ on the Gauss's curve shows that about 40% of Romanians are functional illiterate (IQ below 85), and 15% fall into the clinical mental retardation (IQ below 75).
“Fixed, but fixed as it comes out on the Pisa tests, (which are actually an IQ test only called a little different)”, supports the economist.
It divides the population into three categories: urban area (50% of the population, average IQ 100 – equivalent to the European average), the majority rural area (40% of the population, average IQ) and “The values we cannot call: IQ 74 (meta analysis on all studies).”
Caramitru states that these differences explain the low rate of promotion of baccalaureate, high school dropout in rural areas and how people relate to civic and political life.
“The rural problem is unimaginably serious. I say it all from Cuza, every time it was a structural problem of the country. Talk to any teacher exposed to rural or values and will explain a little more … If you want to have confirmation and do not believe me – look for Google, on GPT chat, what you want.” he says.
The resolution proposed by Caramitru
The economist also offers some solutions for the situation in which our country is. In his opinion, among the most important factors would be the balanced diet.
“The problem is that it is not” resolved “through education. It is solved only with iodine, balanced diet when they are small, exposure to advanced stimuli (not given with a dig or at the village in the village but to the urban environment) and it lasts many generations. And nobody guarantees something. It is profoundly structural, it is a genetic accumulation. he wrote.
Andrei Caramitru also offered additional explanations in the comments of the post published on Facebook.
“The explanation for this situation is this: – I came out the last in Europe in the servant. I was in 1870 the rural and most illiterates throughout Europe. – that is – Forever time – 80-90% of the population had a miserable nutrition and zero intellectual stimulus (they were with sap, so) – very few are near a river or for a long time. This thing in hundreds / thousands of years accumulates and forgets the result. ”
