The next 10 years longer would be forbidden to sell real estate from the agricultural ownership of the Treasury – provides a bill published on Monday, reported by President Karol Nawrocki. The current provisions in this matter expire in 2026.
The draft assumes a change in the wording of one of the articles of the current Act and extending by another 10 years of suspension of the sale of real estate, their parts and shares in the joint ownership of real estate included in the agricultural ownership of the Treasury. The current Act of April 2016 introduced a 10-year ban.
The period in which the sale of the agricultural ownership of the Treasury of the Treasury resources listed in the Act on the suspension of the Sales of the State Treasury resources listed in the Act is also invalid without the consent of the Minister of Agriculture.
The presidential initiative also assumes a change in the preamble of the Act on shaping the agricultural system. In the new introduction, among others The fact that the act is adopted “in a sense of special responsibility for the future of Polish agriculture and food security of citizens, seeing the deepening economic difficulties in Europe and the growing threats flowing from the influx of agricultural products from outside the European Union borders (…)”.

In the preamble act, it is emphasized that it was adopted “in order to strengthen the protection and development of family farms, which, according to the constitution of the Republic of Poland requirements for environmental protection and favorable development of rural areas. “
The president announced the signing of his legislative initiative on Saturday. On the same day, deputy minister of agriculture Jacek Czerniak announced that “there is already a bill that will be directed for inter-ministerial arrangements” and provides for a 10-year extension of the ban on the sale of real estate from the agricultural ownership of the Treasury. – It seems to us that those who today advise Mr. President in the aspect of agriculture, misled him – said Czerniak.
Minister of Agriculture Stefan Krajewski, in turn, pointed out on Platform X that it was during the rule of the United Right that a mass sale of Polish land to foreigners took place. The data he presented showed that in 2015 it was 412 ha, 1560 ha in 2020 and 5119 ha in 2022. “In 2024, after our government took power, sales dropped to 1276 ha” – emphasized the head of MRiRW.
Also the president of PSL, deputy prime minister, minister of national defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz assessed that “President Nawrocki was once again misled-this time in the matter of agriculture.”
