The head of the Romanian diplomacy, Oana Țoiu, told Digi24 on Saturday that in the discussions he had this week with the representatives of Ukraine he received “strong desire signals”.
Asked about the dissatisfaction of the Ukrainians in the context of the bilateral summit announced by the Presidents of the United States and Russia, Oana Țoiu suggested that it is “very important” to participate in the negotiations for the end of the war.
“I believe that Romania understands very well why in a bargain negotiation, in a peace negotiation it is very important that the affected countries are present and to participate in the respective negotiation. From this point of view, I think it is very easy to understand the fear of a country that is under assault, a country under a war of aggression, without a reason, At the respective discussions, ”said the head of Romanian diplomacy.
She says that during the visit this week in Ukraine she noted “strong desire signals.”
“At this moment the signals we had from the representatives I met, both in Kiev and Cernăuți, are signals of strong peace. Much of our discussions were actually focused on economic development, on logistical interconnection, connecting energy systems, developing culture. From Cernăuți, Odessa, Ismail and other localities.
Oana Țoiu described “hope” as “a keyword”.
“We are not a few who look at the resilience of the Ukrainian people with admiration and including the way President Zelenski has managed, in his mandate so far, to coagulate the support of the international community, and the decision of their own people in the direction of peace and resilience,” added Minister.
Discussions between EU Foreign Ministers
The head of Romanian diplomacy said that he spoke on Saturday with his EU counterparts.
“Today we had several discussions in the Foreign Ministers Group within the European Union on the positioning of the European Union in this future discussion for peace, in the later reconstruction process, because in the end it is, first and foremost, a conversation about Ukraine and the peace between Ukraine and the Russian Federation, but it is also an indirect conversation, and we have a conversation about Europe, Common potential in this direction ”, concluded Oana Țoiu.
