Accident between two cars on the Mihai Viteazul Bridge in Timișoara. One of the cars, one step to fall into the Bega River

An accident between two cars occurred on Saturday, August 9, on the Mihai Viteazul Bridge in Timișoara, after which one of the cars hit the railing and was close to fall into the Bega river.

“Today, August 9, a 22 -year -old drove a car from Mihai Viteazul Boulevard towards 20 December 1989, and on the Mihai Viteazul Bridge would have entered the collision with a car driven by a 35 -year -old man.
Following the impact resulted two victims, respectively the 22 -year -old driver and a 49 -year -old pedestrian“, IPJ Timiş said.

Both drivers were tested with the alcohol tester, the results being negative, writes news.ro.
According to investigators, the accident may have been intentionally provoked by one of the drivers. At the scene of the accident, several Roma men immediately gathered, so the gendarmes intervened quickly.
Also, according to sources among investigators, on the seat of one of the cars involved in the accident were found baseball sticks and other blunt objects.
The damages made to the Mihai Vteazul bridge, following the accident, are all the more significant as this is one of the historical bridges of Timisoara.
Located at the end of Mihai Viteazul Boulevard, the bridge was built in 1913-1914, on the site of a wooden bridge that had operated on 1718 and which had been reinforced in 1898.
